Greil Marcus is an absolute master of aesthetic contemplation.He ranks with the very greatest literary critics of the 20 th Century-Wilson,Howe,Kazin,Trilling….this review pretty much does him justice…….. I hope Marcus is by now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.. Ironically .his work is more profoundly musical than many of those that he celebrates ……………………….
