Albert King ,no singer??? Did G.M really write that? Albert King’s smooth vocals align him with some of the best & jazziest vocalists in the African-American tradition
like Joe Williams,Lou Rawls,Johnny Hartman,Arthur Prysock,& Billy Eckstine- while the vast majority of his guitar solos rely on the same climactic figure (that’s become overused by acolytes like Clapton)…….
Muddy Waters ,and legions of harp players, certainly don’t share the view that James Cotton is not an elite Chicago Blues Harp player who belongs in the very top strata along with Little & Big Walter, both Sonny Boy Williamsons, Junior Wells, George Smith,Paul Butterfield and Charley Musselwhite…a listen to The Blues Never Die with Otis Spann and Chicago The Blues Today Volume II should lead to a retraction
