Upcoming Online Appearances (Dave Marsh, Bob Dylan)

Greil Marcus will soon be appearing in two live online conversations:

1) Land of Hope and Dreams: A Celebration of Dave Marsh’s Work and Vision is a multi-part online symposium. On May 7, Greil joins Ann Powers, Greg Tate, Robert Christgau, and Lauren Onkey for the keynote panel, Listening Past the Myths. Registration is free and open to the public. (There are several other Marsh panels worth exploring there as well.)

“Over the years [Marcus and Marsh] argued, communed, joined in disgust, sympathized in bad times, and followed each other across the decades, wondering what the other might be thinking… Mystery Train would never have been written without Dave Marshā€™s encouragement over its writing and his enthusiasm for life in general—even if his Lipstick Traces was written in the face of his disapproval. Thatā€™s how it works—nothing settled, everything up for grabs.”

2) Bob Dylan at 80 is a live online Q&A with Greil, Sean Latham (editor of the new reader, The World of Bob Dylan), Ann Powers, and Paul Morley. It all takes place May 20th–only available, however, to UK residents.
